One of relatively few novels from the Caribbean with handicapped children as the principal characters.

Despite their handicaps they have a rolicking time solving the mysteries which occur during their summer holiday.

The first mystery is the unknown person who invited them to spend time in the rural area, far away from their orphanages.

Then there is the Captain's ghost as well as unpleasant and  ultimately criminal drivers and gardeners at Bottom House where they are housed. They are kidnapped, locked in a cave and have to use their wits to overcome their limited physical abilities to get out of dangerous situations.

A fast paced, enjoyable tale.
